Amouj Marina lines up breakthrough Oyster experiment
Almouj Marina has announced a pioneering eco experiment that will see the region’s first installation of oyster long-lines, potentially contributing to the slowing of the worldwide decline of oyster production.
Spearheaded by Dr. Olivier Guelorget (an aquaculture advisor to Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries), the experiment will see a 100 meter long-line installed at the Mourjan Marinas-managed Almouj Marina.Read more...
Mourjan Marinas – Lusail City set for expansion
Doha’s premier marina Mourjan Marinas – Lusail City has announced it will expand in response to increasingly high demand for more berths in Qatar. Construction is now underway on 49 new modern floating berths, which will bring the marina’s total offering to 142 berths.
The expansion will create a larger display area for the upcoming Qatar International Boat Show 2014 (QIBS), which takes place for the second time at Mourjan Marinas – Lusail City from 11 – 15 November 2014.Read more...

'Floating Mangroves' project continues to flourish at Lusail Marina
Mourjan Marinas’ ‘Floating Mangroves’ project, launched together with UNESCO and Lusail City, has achieved another milestone, with all plants from phase one and two now receiving sea water based irrigation. The experiment is the first of its kind in the region – the findings of which will help shape scientists’ understanding on mitigating climate change through carbon sequestration.
The experiment monitors the use of mangroves for capturing carbon emissions, or sequestration, helping to reduce atmospheric carbon levels.Read more...
