Dubai, UAE, 22nd December, 2013: Mourjan Marinas, the region’s leading luxury marina management company, celebrates its latest award win for Lusail Marina, which scooped the Boat Owner Middle East’s ‘Most Interesting Marine Development’ award at a ceremony recently held in Dubai.

Lusail Marina, located within the prestigious Lusail City development in Doha, welcomed its first yacht in 2011. The stunning waterfront destination has quickly grown into a world-class facility and one of the region’s premier boating and lifestyle destinations.

The milestone award recognises the marina’s efforts in delivering five-star hospitality combined with a strong customer offering and its ongoing commitment to the region.

“We are very proud to win this award, which is testament to the pioneering initiatives and hard work of the entire Lusail Marina team,” said Wayne Shepherd, General Manager of Mourjan Marinas.

The award win rounds off a successful year for Lusail Marina, who together with Mourjan Marinas, have delivered impactful, pioneering initiatives through its commitment to Doha on its journey to becoming an internationally recognized yachting destination.

Last month, Lusail Marina hosted the inaugural Qatar International Boat Show 2013 (QIBS), which welcomed visitors from across the region as well as a host of prestigious international exhibitors to the Middle East for the first time. Meanwhile, earlier this year, it embarked on a partnership with UNESCO to pioneer a ground-breaking experiment at Lusail Marina in the use of floating mangroves for the capturing of carbon emissions – the results of which have the potential to shape scientific understanding on mitigating climate change.

“Importantly, Mourjan Marinas and the Lusail Marina team are committed to developing its role and influence throughout the region, of which CSR initiatives, including our work with UNESCO and mangroves, and support for pioneering events such as QIBS, are a key factor."

“Lusail Marina has quickly solidified its position as one of the region’s leading marinas and guests are regularly impressed by its unique design, as well as the high level of service on offer. “

Many unique features have been developed in the marina for guests’ ultimate comfort, including contemporary shade structures and on-water lounge areas. The marina’s other features include underwater lighting, black and grey water ‘pump-out’ at the berths, 24 hour security, a five-star concierge service, and deck wash for all yachts.

The 93 floating berth marina, which caters for yachts between 10-40 metres in length, has also been designed as an eco-friendly facility, using the very best materials to meet the highest environmental management standards. The marina utilises aluminium marina systems that are built of non-corrosive recyclable materials, including marine-grade aluminium alloy frames, composite wood deckings, plastic floats and stainless steel hardware.

“We are very much looking forward to the journey on from here as Lusail Marina goes on to reach future milestones,” Wayne said.
